Well we're half way through the majors season, and I'd be lying if I didn't say I wasn't disappointed. I've had two terrible event, and one event where I just missed the money. Even that one at Hartwell, I never really felt like I was on 'em, and basically if a fish wasn't on a bed, I wasn't catching it. At Beaver, I just couldn't find any.
I had a few good fish in practice, but I probably spent too much time running around rather than just hunkering down and fishing.
This past event at Chickamauga really hurt. There were lots of fish to be caaght, and tremendious fishing on the first day of practice. However, the water dropped 3 feet during practice, and I was not able to adjust.Again I spent alot of day 1 running around.I did have a couple good fish on beds I had to release because they were not hooked in the mouth, but really the big issue was that I never adjusted.
I'm on a little break now, going on a cruise with Eimer, then it's of to Branson,MO for the Table Rock event, This should be another big numbers event, there should be fish to be had just about everywhere, doing just about anything... It's up to me to find 'em!! Cool thing about this big roadtrip is all the places I've got to visit. We'll be making a point of swinging by New Orleans for Lunch next friday... just to say we did.
Wow, What a crazy past couple of weeks this has been. I've been trying to get my gear together and everything in order because in 6 short days I'll be hitting the road for my first FLW Tour event of the year, Beaver Lake. I'm excited to get out there, but nervous of the conditions. It'll be pretty much Winter fishing, something I have very little experience doing for Bass. Some people are predicting that Beaver Lake, known for fairly small limits may produce some comparatively giant bags in the 20lb Range.
I think this is going to end up being a SPRO tournament for me. I can see the McStick, and new McRip playing huge, along with the finesse jigs. I may also do a little spooning it the fish are positioned right for it. It's really so hard to tell how it's going to shake out until we get down there, but it's good to have an idea.
I'll be travelling this year with fellow Renegade Bass competitor, Jason Bilow. Jason is pumped, and it'll be good to travel with someone from close to home.
I'm planning to get some videos up as time rolls on, right now I need to quit procrastinating so much and focus on finalizing my preparation!
